PLANNING

What do your rates include?
Our rates are per person, based on double occupancy accommodations. Rates include:

  • Accommodations
  • All meals (unless otherwise noted)
  • All entrance fees for museums and other sites
  • Round-trip transfers between the airport and the hotel
  • All transportation & transfers via bus, ferry, taxi and van throughout the trip unless otherwise noted. Airfare is not included.
  • English-speaking tour guides on every tour.
  • English-speaking emergency local contact available 24/7.

Is travel/medical insurance included in the packages?

Travel/Medical Insurance is not included in our package rates. For your protection, we do require that you purchase Comprehensive Travel Insurance. Read more about what kind of policy to look for here.

Please provide details of your insurance to Accessible Escapes 30 days prior to departure. If you need assistance with insurance, just let us know.

Can Accessible Escapes help me with flights and other arrangements?
Yes we can! Simply purchase one of our Reservation Service packages and we will take care of additional reservations and arrangements-from flights to hotels to tourist attractions-for you. Learn more >

Do you have any age restrictions?
No, we love working with travelers of all ages. Depending on the tour or activity, we may request a medical certificate from your physician regarding your state of health. For activities requiring a medical certificate, it is mandatory for travelers of all ages to provide it.

Do you have special rates for children?
No, but we certainly wish we could. Our rates are based on the rates provided by tour guides, accommodations, sites and restaurants and most do not discount for children. Some activities do provide kids’ discounts, and those discounts will be reflected in the total rate.

How big are the groups?
In order to create a friendly, relaxed environment and deliver personalized attention and service, we focus on small groups of up to 10 people with two wheelchair users at a time. On occasion we can make exceptions, so please contact us with your request.

Do I need to bring a companion or assistant on the trip with me?
Companions or assistants are only required if you would use one during your everyday routine at home. If you usually require assistance transferring in and out of a wheelchair, walking or bathing then you should bring a companion or assistant on your vacation. Our guides will be happy to help you as best they can, but for legal reasons they are unable to transfer our clients in and out of a wheelchair or carry them into a room or up and down stairs. Do you provide assistants?
We don’t currently provide assistants, but we will in the near future. Consider posting a message on our Community Message Board in the meantime.

Do you provide for special diets?
Please let us know of any special dietary needs when you book your vacation. We will inform our guides and restaurants, who will do their very best to meet your needs. Each restaurant will have different offerings so we can’t guarantee the same options in every location. Our guides will help you with any language or translation problems but it is up to you to make your needs known at the restaurant.

Do I need to bring special adaptors for electrical outlets?
Yes, that is if you plan to use any electrical equipment such as a hair dryer, curling iron, trimmers, radio, etc. that is based on U.S. electrical currency. We will provide the specific electrical currency information for your destination country in your Travel Confirmation Package once you book your vacation.

What happens if I have a medical emergency on one of your trips?
A local emergency contact is available 24/7 on every trip. We also provide a list of local hospitals in your Travel Confirmation Package. Our guides are trained to handle emergencies, as is the staff at each hotel.

Do you provide special equipment such as shower chairs?
You may request special equipment as part of the reservation process and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs based on availability in the destination country/city. In some cases a rental fee will apply. Learn more >

What type of accommodation is provided?
Accommodations on all tours range from three to five stars based on location and availability. If you choose to customize a trip and Create Your Own Escape, we will make every effort to provide you with your desired style of accommodation.

Can I pay extra to upgrade my accommodation?
Yes, of course, but it depends upon availability at each hotel.

What kind of transportation is provided?
All transportation and transfers are via accessible bus, ferry, taxi and van unless otherwise noted.

What languages are spoken on the tours?
English is spoken on all tours, however many of our tour guides are bilingual. If you are interested in a guided tour in another language, please note your request on the reservation request form.

What if I want to extend my trip?
We would be happy to help you make arrangements should you choose to extend your trip. Please contact us immediately with your requests and we will do our best to accommodate them. Please note that our guides are not authorized to make any travel arrangements for you on our behalf.
